Kelly Bang

The Thunderbird bass she plays may be as big as she is, but that doesn’t slow down the nimble fingers of Kelly Bang. A guitar player of 11 years before becoming a bassist in 2007 for the Nondenoms, she’s best known for lightning speed leads and solos while also being completely comfortable rocking on single note to its fullest effect–and occasionally belting out gravelly Distillers-style vocals–she’s also been compared to Matt Freeman of Rancid–a feat any bass player would be proud of. Heavily influenced by the likes of Motorhead, NOFX, Milo Goes to College-era Descendants and–of course–Rancid, this 5-ft tall dynamo and staple of the Greensboro punk scene continues to garner the reverence and respect of her colleagues with every show she plays.
